Many pupils at Cathkin High School take their responsibility for the environment very seriously. They take advantage of the opportunities in school to learn about and fully understand the issues surrounding man's impact on the environment. They develop a range of high level skills including skills of evaluation and communication. They use this knowledge and these skills to inform their own behaviour as it impacts on the environment, realising that small changes in our behaviour like recycling and conserving energy have a large collective impact. These young people have a very important role to play in influencing both their peers and the wider community to make environmental issues a top priority. They have made an excellent start with this blogathon - I'm very proud of them.

I think pupils don't look after their environment. You have to look at the rubbish that lies around they think everyone else is going to clean up after them. The writing on walls and on books is shocking. How are they going to take care of our new school if they can't look after the one we are in now?
hi
I feel that we are using to much fossil fuels and petrol.
If we dont watch out we will end up using far to much .
If we start turning lights off after us,and walk to the shops, perhaps use more trams again.
OK I hope you understand what i am saying!!!
michelle
thank god there is a new school this school is falling apart pupils dont look after the school and they drop litter everywhere chik chik waaahhh
The environment right now its a disgrace. We dont look after it well enough and then it affects other's future. They deserve a good life and we are taking that away from them.
We feel that at Cathkin we do not get taught about how to look after the enviroment! If we were told what to do to make a change we would definetly give it a go!
love GAL
Thats a fair point Gal. How many teachers try to work eco-issues into lessons ? I know I try but sometimes its hard to have these discussions when we are under pressure to get through all the work in each subject. Thats where sites like this are sooooo important. Tell us how we can help you to understand the issues and work with us to do something about the dangers the world is facing. I always say to my classes that they are the MSP's, voters, workers and taxpayers of tommorrow and that they will have to pay to clean up the mess we are making now.
Keep your comments coming. I know the school is going to encourage involvement in these issues much more.
