Class 1B3 at Cathkin High School have entered a competition where the class have agreed to remain "smoke free" for 5 months during this school year and they could win a prize. Here are some of their views about smoking:
"If they get rid of 10 packs of cigarettes then smokers will just smoke more. The smoking ban was a good idea because it's better for non smokers health."
" Put out more smoking bans in Scotland and raise prices for tobacco, cigarettes and cigars plus raise the age limit to buy cigarettes."
"Don't smoke it takes 5 minutes off your life every time you smoke."
" For smoking I think the legal age of smoking should be raised as well as the price."
" I think we should blog about cigarettes. I think the age should go up."
"Smoking should be banned altogether or the age should be raised at which you can buy them."
"The smoking age limit should be 21 years and over and the price of cigarettes should go up."
"Don't smoke, it harms your lungs and kills you quicker."
....The Blogsite RM tried to ban. Back,and still not afraid to confront the real issues that matter.

I think the competition is a good idea to prmote a smoke free scotland. Even though the smoking ban has been put in place you still get way too many people smoking in public places the goverment needs to crack down on this problem if they REALLY want to make scotland smoke free. So what if they ban it in pubs the kids that have to walk home from schools sometimes have to walk past all these smokers and it effects them to! Not enough has been done in my opinion

I think that the ban on smoking in public places has probably made alot of people give the habbit up, as many people won't be prepared to stand outside in the rain and cold for fag that could potentially kill them.
Personally I think that the younger generation (meaning us) will have loads less smokers than the older generation as the laws on smoking are alot more strick than they were twenty years ago. As you can no longer smoke indoors and there is talk of raising the age to 18 before you can purchase fags legally.
This should put people off from starting smoking.
they should make the price of fags much higher....10 quids a pack. That would really put people off the weed, and put more money into the health service as well to treat the losers who smoke then get sick wiv lung cancer..
